Welcome to the Event Seat Booking App user guide! This app is designed to help you manage seat bookings for events, such as movie screenings, directly from your Shopify store. With this guide, you’ll learn how to create cinema locations, manage seating layouts, schedule screenings, and more.

App workflow

1. Accessing the Event Seat Booking App

  1. Log in to your Shopify Admin Dashboard.
  2. Click on Apps, then search for Event Seat Booking App.
  3. Select the app to open the dashboard.

2. Embedding the App Block into Your Store’s Theme

To start using the app, you’ll need to embed the app block into your store’s theme. You can do this in two ways:

Option 1: Quick Embed

  • On the app dashboard, click the Add the Embedded App Block link to activate the app block automatically.

Option 2: Manual Embed

  1. Go to Sales Channels > Online Store > Themes.
  2. Click Customize Theme.
  3. Search for Product > Default Product.
  4. Scroll down on the left-hand side and add the Cinema Rental Booking App Block.
  5. Click Save to confirm the changes.

3. Setting Up Cinema Locations & Seating Map

Creating a Cinema Location

  1. In the app dashboard, click Create Cinema Location.
  2. Fill in the necessary details:
    • Cinema Title: Name of the cinema.
    • Address: The physical location of the cinema.
    • Latitude & Longitude: Enter coordinates for precise mapping.
  3. In the Rooms section, click Add Row to create a new room.
    • Fill in the room’s details: Room Title, Capacity, Description, and Floor Number.
  4. Click Submit to save the cinema location.

Managing Cinema Locations & Rooms

  • To view or edit cinema locations, go to Cinema Location Management.
  • To manage rooms, go to Room Management where you can:
    • View rooms by title, capacity, and associated location.
    • Click Edit Layout to create or modify seating arrangements.

4. Creating a Seat Layout

  1. In Room Management, select a room and click Edit Layout.
  2. Adjust the number of Rows and Columns.
  3. Click Generate Seats to automatically populate the seating chart.
  4. Customize the layout:
    • Add Seat: Click this option to add more seats.
    • Delete Seat: Click on a seat and hit the delete option.
    • Clear All Seats: Reset the entire seating layout if needed.
  5. Once done, click Save Seats to finalize the seating arrangement.

5. Creating Movie Products and Linking Them to the App

Add a Movie Product

  1. From the Shopify Admin Dashboard, go to Products and click Add Product.
  2. Enter the product details:
    • Title: Movie name.
    • Description: Brief summary of the movie.
    • Price: Set the ticket price.
  3. In the Shipping section, ensure the option This is a physical product is unchecked.
  4. Click Save to complete the product setup.

Link Movie Product to the App

  1. In the Event Seat Booking app, go to Create Movie.
  2. Fill in the following details:
    • Movie Title.
    • Duration: This helps in scheduling the movie.
  3. Under the Movie field, click Browse Product and select the product you created earlier.
  4. Tick the checkbox next to the movie, click Add, and then click Submit.

6. Managing Screening Schedules

  1. From the app dashboard, go to Manage Screening Schedule.
  2. Select the room and date where the screening will take place.
  3. There are two ways to set up the schedule:
    • Option 1: Drag and drop the movie into the desired time slot.
    • Option 2: Click Edit Schedule, fill in the time slots, select the movie, and click Save Showtime.
  4. Once everything is arranged, click Submit to finalize the schedule.

7. Booking a Seat as a Customer

Here’s how the customer experience works:

  1. Customers can browse your store’s catalog, select a movie, and click Book Now.
  2. They’ll choose a cinema location, date, and start time.
  3. Afterward, they select seats (e.g., E5 and E6) and proceed to checkout.
  4. On the checkout page:
    • The customer reviews their order and provides contact and payment details.
    • Finally, they click Pay Now to complete the booking.

8. Managing Bookings and Orders

  1. Go to the Booking section in the app to see all the current bookings.
  2. View detailed information such as:
    • Cinema Location
    • Room Title
    • Booked Seats
    • Financial Status
